Turn any list into a random horse race
Use the random picker when you need one visible, impartial result from a custom list. Add names, choices, tasks, prizes, destinations, or anything else you can label, then let the finish line select the winner.
How to create a custom race
Replace the sample options with at least two entries, choose a horse for each one, and set the race duration. Short races make quick everyday decisions, while medium, long, and custom races create a more dramatic reveal for groups, classrooms, streams, and giveaways.
Share a pre-filled random picker
Add comma-separated choices after ?items= in the URL. For example, horseracer.app/random?items=Alice,Bob,Charlie opens a race with those three names ready to go. Anyone opening the link can review the field before starting the race.
Pick one winner or establish an order
The first horse across the line is the random pick. You can also watch the remaining finishers to establish a complete sequence for turns, presentations, chores, or draft positions. Decide what the finishing order means before the start so every participant understands the result.
Lists that work well
- People or student names
- Teams and turn order
- Food and restaurant choices
- Giveaway entries
- Movies, games, or activities
- Tasks and household chores
Fresh odds for every race
Each new run recalculates the horses’ movement, bursts, and slowdowns. Names, list position, lane number, and horse appearance do not determine the winner. If you race again, you receive a fresh result rather than a replay of the previous order.
